Sesamoidectomy – excision of both sesamoids?

It’s not unusual to excise one fractured sesamoid if the sesamoid can’t heal with a bit of conservative care.  But what about a case where both sesamoids are to be taken out?  Any one have experience with this procedure?  In twenty-five years of practice, I’ve not had the need to excise both sesamoids.
