The role of growth factor in treating chondromalacia?

What is the role of growth factor in treating degenerative change of cartilage (chondromalacia)? At the heart of the question is this; can growth factor arrest or even reverse the effects of osteoarthritis on a joint? Lisfranc Dislocation – Arthrex TightRope

It’s interesting when a treatment paradigm undergoes change. For patients, the risk is that you don’t want to be one of the first few…the guinea pigs. For doctors, boy it’s hard for us to change. There’s risk and potential liability associated with learning new surgical techniques. It’s risky and we’re slow to change. And I think at the heart of that reservation on the part of doctors is simply based on the patient’s welfare.

Lisfranc’s fractures and dislocation are undergoing that kind of change. We’re moving from a traditional method of rigid fixation to a new dynamic reduction of the injury with a flexible means of reduction called the Arthrex TightRope.

Join us in The Foot Talk Forum for this conversation about this new and interesting method of treating Lisfranc’s dislocations.
